Custom Look, Solid Foundation
If you're looking for concrete that goes beyond the basics, stamped and colored concrete is the perfect way to blend durability with design. At Robinhood Concrete, we specialize in turning plain concrete into textured, eye-catching surfaces that elevate everything from patios to walkways, driveways, and outdoor living areas.
How it all works
Step 1: Preparation - Remove existing vegetation and topsoil, compact the soil to create a stable base, and install any necessary reinforcement (standard preparation). This includes building forms to define the desired area for the project.
Step 2: Placement and Finishing - Mix and pour the concrete into the prepared form. We then will use tools such as screeds, floats, and levels to create a smooth, even surface.
Step 3: Adding Color and Release Agent - Incorporate color hardener into the concrete during the finishing process, either by broadcasting it on the surface or integrating it during the mix. We then will apply a release agent (powder or liquid) to the concrete surface to prevent the stamps from sticking.
Step 4: Stamping - Place the chosen stamp mats onto the wet concrete and apply pressure (using tamper if needed) to create the desired pattern or texture.
Step 5: Curing and Sealing - Allow the concrete to cure properly (typically for a few days) by keeping it moist (using wet burlap or a curing compound) to maximize strength and durability. We then apply a sealer to the cured concrete to protect the surface, enhance colors, and improve resistance to stains and wear.
With great looks comes a little more care - and we're here to break it all down so you know exactly what to expect !

Important: Maintenance & Longevity
Stamped and colored concrete require a little more maintenance than standard concrete, and it's important to understand how to protect your investment:
Sealing is Essential: We recommend sealing your stamped concrete every 2-3 years. This protects against UV fading, moisture intrusion, and surface wear.
Color Preservation: Sealers help retain the richness and contrast of the colors over time
Traffic & Exposure: outdoor stamped surfaces that are uncovered and exposed to constant sunlight or harsh weather may require more frequent resealing
Best Use Case: Covered patios, porches, and shaded areas are ideal for stamped concrete, as they naturally reduce exposure and help extend the life of the surface between reseals.
IS IT WORTH IT? Absolutely!
Stamped and colored concrete delivers a one-of-a-kind look that sets your property apart - and it's built on the same tough foundation as every other project. You must know the maintenance involved and be prepared to care for it like you would any custom finish.
By all means it is not high maintenance, but it's not completely maintenance free either.
